Won Hundred: Expert denim for decades

There are few brands that can be considered luminaries of the Danish fashion scene, but for the last two decades, Won Hundred has cemented itself as an integral part of the country’s aesthetic identity. Master of clean silhouettes and able to have denim down to an art form, the brand took a hiatus from showing during Copenhagen Fashion Week — but 20 years in the game felt like a fitting milestone to make an outspoken comeback.
Staged at Politiken’s Pressen, a fitting location to share the news of a return, the label’s AW24 “SURRENDER” collection exemplified its core tropes while taking the brand in an increasingly ambitious direction. “For this season, we are igniting the very heart and soul of Won Hundred,” said Nikolaj Nielsen, Founder & Creative Director. “We’ve delved deep into our archives to reimagine iconic denim styles that were pivotal in our early years.” A denim biker jacket punctuated with zips opened at the chest and peeled away at the sleeves; a pair of acid-wash jeans tied into frilled cuffs at the ankles. Two-piece denim sets in block hues were paired with white collared shirts and staple ties, showing the flexibility of the label’s designs. The genderless Genoa jeans are Won Hundred’s latest export, made from dead stock panels integrated into the slim-fit silhouette — designed to flatter all forms.
Denim isn’t the only fabric the brand proudly touts — responsibly sourced leather from New Zealand took the form of asymmetric cropped jackets that left models’ midriffs bare and patchwork tobacco pants were fluid yet fitted. Bouclé overcoats, traditional diamond knit cardigans and a rich chocolate suede jacket with a high-neck shearling collar proved that the brand can traverse textured materials with ease.“A celebration of self-discovery,” Nielsen called it, but more than that, the collection seemed to be an affirmation of what has always been there — “surrender” to the paragon of Danish style.
